KATHMANDU, JUN 07 - Opposition parties, including Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, have claimed that the June 8 mass protest program would only be a trailer.Organising a press meet in the Capital on Thursday, a day before the protest, parties remarked that the protest would hinder the UCPN (Maoist) attempt of capturing the state power. NC President Sushil Koirala, Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel and UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal said that the future programs would be decided following the government’s response.
Speaking at the meet, NC President Koirala said that it was the need of the present hour to bring the Maoist to consensus. . “We are agitating to bring the Maoist to consensus,” he said. Likewise, NC Vice President Poudel said that the protest was organised to pressurize the Maoist to abide by the May 15 agreement.
Opposition parties have termed the declaration of election as unconstitutional and a Maoist’s ploy to capture state power.
