Organising a press conference at his residence in Maligaun of the capital on Wednesday, the former prime minister and seasoned politician said that the CA should under no circumstances be reinstated like the way the former king Gyanendra resurrected the House of Representatives back in 2006 after being bogged down by anti-monarchist protests.
“The President should copy the former king and reinstate the Constituent Assembly,” he said.Thapa, a former royalist and an ardent critic of the Maoists, also claimed that the Maoists dissolved the CA as part of their strategy “to capture state power”.
He, however, said that all political parties were to blame behind the failure of the CA to settle the disputed issues and promulgate the new constitution.On Tuesday, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) can be reinstated through consensus among political parties to settle the remaining tasks of the CA and promulgate the new constitution.
